This is an interesting point. For myself, and in relation to both this and the section about confirmation bias, I have had a tendency for as long as I can remember to focus on the time 21:12. I have convinced myself that I look at a clock or glance at my phone consistently at this time above all others. I play with the conspiracy that this time is in some way significant to me, that at some point in my life it will reveal itself. As you suggest, this conspiracy does bring me some distant and mild comfort, though I suspect I was initially drawn to this time simply because of its aesthetic symmetry.
